About Gladihoppers

Gladihoppers is a 2D physics-based gladiator brawler where the fighting is as much about staying upright as it is about hitting your opponent. Two pixel-art gladiators hop around a tiny arena, swinging weapons, stumbling, and occasionally landing a kill by complete accident. It is ridiculous, competitive, and deeply entertaining.

The gameplay is built on a simple physics engine where every swing affects your character's balance. Thrust a spear too hard and you overextend and fall. Miss a sword swipe and your momentum carries you off-platform. The janky feel is the entire point — the "skilled" play in Gladihoppers is learning to weaponize the chaos rather than fight it.

The weapon variety is where the game gets deep. Spears have range but low damage. Swords are balanced. Axes deal massive damage but swing slowly. Morningstars pin the enemy. Each combination creates a different rhythm of combat. Two spear fighters play completely differently from a sword vs axe matchup.

Character progression lets you upgrade your gladiator between matches — stats, weapons, and armor. The campaign mode sends you through a growing roster of enemy gladiators, each with their own weapon preference and combat pattern. By the end you're reading their rhythm and exploiting their overextensions like a veteran.

Gladihoppers is exceptional as a two-player couch game. Both players on the same keyboard, same chaotic arena, yelling at each other — it's peak local-multiplayer energy.

How to play Gladihoppers

Controls. WASD — move and jump. F or Left-click — attack. In 2-player: Player 2 uses Arrow keys + Enter/NumPad.

Tips:

• Don't spam the attack button — overextending leaves you wide open.
• Hop backward before attacking: it puts you out of range after the swing.
• Spear has the longest range — use it to poke safely from distance.
• In campaign mode, let the enemy swing first and punish the recovery.
