About Vex 8

Vex 8 is the latest chapter in the Vex stickman platformer series, and it delivers exactly what the series is loved for: razor-precise controls and obstacle courses engineered to kill you in creative ways. You steer a stick figure through side-scrolling Acts packed with buzzsaws, spikes, crushers, water sections and timing gates, using the full Vex movement set — run, jump, wall-slide, wall-jump, swim, and slide — to thread each hazard by a hair.

By the eighth entry the series has refined its formula to a fine point. The controls are famously tight and consistent, so every death reads as a solvable problem rather than an unfair one, and that fairness is the engine of the "just one more try" loop. Frequent checkpoints keep the pain in check — a mistake sets you back seconds, not minutes — so even the hardest sections stay motivating instead of infuriating.

Vex 8 layers its mechanics more aggressively than earlier entries, chaining movement types into sequences where you have to switch from a slide into a jump into a wall-climb without breaking rhythm. The level art stays clean and readable, with colour-coded hazards you can scan before committing, so mastering a stage is about learning the pattern and refining your timing until you flow straight through.

As always, the main Acts are only half the game. Vex 8 keeps the series' brutal optional Challenge stages — standalone levels with sparse checkpoints and merciless timing, built to test complete command of the movement. Clearing them is a real badge of skill.

How to play Vex 8

Controls. Arrow keys or WASD: Up/W jump, Left/Right run, Down/S slide and drop through thin platforms. Fall against a wall to wall-slide, then jump to wall-jump. Tap jump to swim upward through water. It's all keyboard — no mouse needed.

Tips:

• Drill the wall-jump rhythm — the toughest Acts are vertical shafts that demand fast alternating wall-jumps.
• Carry momentum into gaps; a running or sliding start clears jumps a standing leap falls short of.
• Slide (Down) under saws and low ceilings — standing through them is an instant death.
• Save the Challenge stages for after the Acts; they assume you've mastered every movement the game taught you.
