Block Blast is a block-dropping puzzle game that slots perfectly into the gap between Tetris and casual mobile games. You're given a 8x8 grid and a set of three pieces at a time — drag them onto the board to place them, clear full rows or columns to score, and keep going until no more pieces can fit.

The twist is that pieces don't fall from the top — you place them anywhere you want on the grid. This gives you more control than Tetris but demands more forward planning. A piece that fits neatly now might box you into an uncleared mess three turns later. The game rewards thinking two or three moves ahead.

Combos are the score multiplier. Clearing a row and a column simultaneously in one move scores a combo — multiple combos on the same placement chain up for massive point bonuses. High-level play is about engineering board states where a single piece placement clears two, three, or four lines at once.

Block Blast has no timer, which removes the panic of Tetris and lets you think. It's also genuinely difficult at high scores — the piece selection eventually puts you in configurations where every option costs you something. Knowing when to sacrifice a line for better board shape is the skill ceiling.

How to play Block Blast

Controls. Click and drag pieces from the tray onto the board. Release to place. Pieces cannot be rotated. Clear rows or columns to score. The game ends when none of the three available pieces can be placed anywhere on the board.

Tips:

• Keep the center of the board clear — pieces placed edge-to-edge are harder to clear.
• Plan for combos: if you can clear a row and column simultaneously, do it even if it means waiting.
• Never fill an 8x8 grid corner completely — it traps you if a large piece appears.
• When three bad pieces appear, place the one that does least damage and accepts the board hit.
