About Idle Breakout
Idle Breakout is the genre mash-up that asked: what if the classic Breakout brick game ran itself while you bought upgrades? The result is one of the most-played idle games of the decade — a clicker game where the "clicks" are actually balls bouncing autonomously around the screen breaking bricks.
You start with a single basic ball that does 1 damage per brick hit. Money piles up as bricks break. You spend it on more balls (more brick damage per second), upgraded ball types (sniper, splash, plasma, poison), and ball speed/damage upgrades. Within an hour you have dozens of balls flying simultaneously, dealing tens of thousands of damage per second. Within a day you're breaking levels in milliseconds.
The genius of Idle Breakout is that the optimisation never stops. There are six different ball types, each with their own upgrade tree. Plasma balls chain damage between bricks; sniper balls one-shot the strongest bricks; splash balls clear groups. The optimal build changes as you progress — early game is about ball count, mid-game shifts to ball variety, late game is about prestige multipliers.
Prestige mode lets you reset progress for "gold" — a permanent currency that boosts your starting damage. The first prestige is a big leap; later prestiges become a slow grind that incentivises leaving the game running in a background tab. Which is, of course, exactly what every idle game wants.

How to play Idle Breakout
Controls. Mouse only — click to manually break bricks for early-game progress. All upgrades are clicked through menus. Once you have multiple balls, the game plays itself.
Tips:
- Click manually until you can afford 5+ basic balls. After that, manual clicking is a waste of attention.
- Buy ball variety over ball quantity in mid-game. A few plasma balls outpace a dozen basic balls on dense brick levels.
- Don't prestige too early. Wait until your gold gain per prestige is at least 10x your last prestige — first one should happen around level 100.
- Leave the game open in a background tab during class for free progression. Idle games are designed for absence.
