Cut the Rope is the physics puzzle that turned a hungry little green monster named Om Nom into a mobile-era icon. Each level dangles a piece of candy from ropes, and your job is to slice those ropes in the right order, at the right moment, so the candy swings, drops, and lands in Om Nom's waiting mouth. Simple to grasp, genuinely clever to master.

The brilliance is how much depth the designers wring from one action — cutting a rope. Levels layer in air cushions that puff the candy sideways, bubbles that float it upward, spikes that destroy it on contact, spiders that crawl down to steal it, and pulleys and moving anchors that keep everything in motion. Solving a stage is about reading the physics and timing your cuts, often chaining several in a fraction of a second.

There's a scoring layer on top of just feeding Om Nom: three stars float in each level, and collecting all of them while still delivering the candy turns a simple puzzle into an optimisation challenge. Grabbing every star often means a completely different, riskier solution than just getting the candy home — which is exactly what gives the game its replay value and its "aha!" moments.

How to play Cut the Rope

Controls. Mouse or touch: click and drag (or swipe) across a rope to slice it. Tap bubbles to pop them and tap air cushions to blow the candy in a direction. That's it — every puzzle is solved by cutting ropes and nudging the candy at the right moment.

Tips:

• Watch the swing before you cut — timing the slice at the top or bottom of an arc sends the candy in very different directions.
• Going for all three stars often needs a completely different solution than just feeding Om Nom — plan for the stars first.
• Use air cushions in short taps to steer the candy rather than one big push.
• Pop bubbles at the last second to drop the candy exactly where you need it.
